Central Communications or Elbert County 911 as it is sometimes called is responsible for handling all Emergency and Non-Emergency dispatches for all agencies in Elbert County and the City of Elberton. There are 16 Full-Time and 4 Part-Time employees who man the Dispatch Center with 4 on duty 24 hours per day. Additional assistance is provided during peak times by Emergency Services Administration Staff.
The majority of our communications staff are also Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) along with 100% of our staff being CPR certified. Those who have further training are active in Elbert County’s EMR program along with our Water Response and Rescue Team.
In 2018, Central Communications processed over 100,000 calls which lead to approx 35,000 Incidents requiring dispatch of resources.
All employees are POST Certified Communications Officers as required by the State of Georgia.
